THE FOPAH’S OF DATING

1. “Needy Folks” this is not “CUTE” so if you don’t hear from the person the very next day just relax that does not mean they are not into you. What it means is that we are adults and even though we might want to call, we maybe just too busy and will call later.

1. “Romance Junkies” don’t seem to open about how you are feeling and how much you like them…..within the first few hours of meeting. You may think it is romantic but …most people find it creepy and desperate. What you should do is play it cool let them know you are interested without declaring your love for them.

1. EX’S this is a huge Fopah in dating, no one wants to hear about the past relationships that you screwed up or that someone screwed you. Past relationships are in the past for a reason so let’s keeping them there. What you do want to do is if the person wants to know about your past relationships you treat it like an interview, put a positive spin on a negative situation.

1. DRUNKARDS Beware…..everyone likes to have a drink or two and catch a quick buzz, but nobody likes a drunk on the first date.  When you are drunk you are not as on guard as you need to be when you are talking to someone for the first time, so you might suggest a better hair style for them or end up puking  up on there shoes!!! What you should do is have a drink to show that you like to have fun but stays in control don’t drink two much.

1. “Last Minute Ditch” this is a big FOPAH, and if it is avoidable please do so because this is like everything else you need to make a good first impression. But there are times that you can’t help but to call half hour before the date and cancel. So in this case be sympathetic and apologize tell them that you have three openings in your schedule so pick what they want and where they want.  This will make them feel good and seem that you are giving them options and they will feel apprized by you doing this.

1. “High Maintenance Babe/Dude “if you are one of these people please be aware of this before your first date. Be prepared to actually listen to the other person talk. There is nothing more annoying then having to repeat yourself because the other person is thinking of themselves instead of listening to you.

1. Who Pays????!!! This is a new aged dilemma back in the day there was no confusion the man was paying. But this is the 2000 people so let’s give the option …. Men if you are really feelin’ the girl you are with then show it by offering to pay.  Girls at least reach and offer to pay for your half of the meal you want to be treated as a equal so if you are feeling him then say hey I got this one get me the next time….!!!

1. “Negative Nelly” if you are one of these people please try and keep a positive attitude during the date, think of the positive things about your date. Don’t look for the bad things that they are trying to hide or what they might do down the line. If they are what you are looking for but you just think there is more to the story and you are going to find the dirt …!!! STOP and think it is the first date chill …enjoy the moment. Do embrace this feeling of finding someone that is perfect for you and if you find out that they are not… that is fine it is only the first date not marriage so you have a while to find out If they are not what they say they are.
2. “Yes Man” this may get you thru at work but nobody wants a yes man at home, we need you to give your opinions on important issues people are looking for partners not syborgs. Do give your honest opinion on issues your date brings up but don’t seem like you are inflexible you need to be open to new ideas.

1.  “Marriage Bond” on the first date don’t bring up how many kids you want and that you are looking for a future wife or hubby. People don’t like to fell pressure of being the one or thinking about having kids. It might be ideal for you but for some people that is the ultimate commitment and you don’t want to bring that up on the first date. You can casually bring up that you do in the distant future want a family, not that you want it NOW!!!
