About Yoga Mandala
When you feel spread out too thin and there seems to be too little time to do anything well, and on top of that, you begin to realize your physical health, mental growth and spiritual well-being are becoming severely compromised, THEN, perhaps, you stop long enough to actually see that what you are doing, that the ’story’ you’ve constructed, is unappealing or, ultimately unsustainable…

Yoga Mandala was born (in October 2001) of a physical, psychological and soulful need for Space . We happen to practice yoga because it makes us feel better physically; yoga reminds us to breathe; it helps clear our minds; and most importantly, each yoga practice guides us towards what is really important in our lives at this moment in time and space and form. Stepping onto the yoga mat is, in this day and age, and in and of itself, a small, but beautiful accomplishment. It creates this sense of intention, and from there flows the tuning process, the checking in with oneself, and the focusing on the ‘atta ‘, the here and now.

In this vein the concept of mandala was born: a circular arrangement, device or diagram designed to concentrate the mind and guide thought towards a single focal point at the heart of this design or mandala . A mandala contains three principle geometric elements: In the center is the ’seed’ (bindu), representing the point of potentiality of both universe and mind; the surrounding circles represent various levels of existence; these in turn are encompassed by a square with open ‘gates;’ beyond these can exist a variety of elements.*

However simple or complex the mandala, it always represents consecrated space. Yoga Mandala is essentially where personal practice and mindfulness meet on the mat. Our doors are open to anyone and everyone. We do our very best to make your first, or next, yoga experience an extraordinary one.
